Nitobe Memorial Garden

Built in memory of Dr. Inazō Nitobe, UBC’s Nitobe Memorial Garden is considered one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan.

Wreck Beach

Vancouver’s iconic clothing-optional beach is known for its spectacular views of the West Coast. Watching the sunset over the Straight of Georgia is a favourite UBC student tradition. Be warned: it’s easy going down, but hard coming up!

Granville Island

Check out this artist enclave, with local artisans and shops that sell everything from hand-dyed silk to sake. Or go to the Granville Public Market and buy all the food your heart desires. Just watch out for the seagulls!

Capilano Suspension Bridge

This popular attraction in beautiful North Vancouver is a bit out of the city, but you’ll love to be immersed in nature at this iconic location. Defy gravity by walking along the bridge (which has been in place since 1889), or along the newly installed Cliffwalk.

Kits Beach

Live like a local and enjoy one of Vancouver’s most popular beaches. Just meters away from bars and shops, this beach has everything you could want from a beach. Sand, sun (sometimes) and cycling.

Vancouver Aquarium

Be amazed at the marine life underwater at this famous Vancouver institution! Enjoy the walls of jellyfish, touch a sea anemone, and learn more about Vancouver’s amazing West Coast ecosystem.

Science World

The favourite place of all nerdy kids who grow up in Vancouver, check out Science World’s exhibit on extreme sports, and marvel at the feats of physics people can achieve around the world.

Stanley Park

Visit 400 hectares of amazing West Coast rainforest in this famous Vancouver park. Rent a bike and tour the Vancouver seawall, walk around and marvel at the number of Canada geese (they have teeth, be warned), or look out over the coastline at Prospect Point.

Bloedel Conservatory

A hidden gem, this conservatory introduces you to all the exotic birds you never knew, and turns up the humidity a notch for tropical plants you’ve never seen.

Vancouver Art Gallery

Visit this historical building and gaze at the wonders of Canadian artists over the years. Be sure to check out their Emily Carr exhibit!
